Volkswagen has reached a new efficiency milestone with its ID.7 Pro S, covering an incredible 941 km on a single battery charge during an efficiency test at the Nardò Circuit in southern Italy. This remarkable feat far exceeded the model’s WLTP range of up to 709 km by 232 km (a 32.7% improvement). The test confirms the ID.7 Pro S as one of the most efficient electric vehicles in its class, highlighting Volkswagen’s commitment to long-distance electric driving.
Efficiency Milestone for the ID.7 Pro S:
- Distance Covered: 941 km on a single charge
- Average Consumption: 9.2 kWh/100 km, an exceptionally low figure
- Battery: 86 kWh (net)
- Drag Coefficient: 0.23, contributing to its aerodynamics and efficiency
- Charging: DC charging capacity of up to 200 kW, replenishing 244 km in just 10 minutes and achieving 10-80% charge in 26 minutes
Real-World Efficiency:
The efficiency test, completed in December 2024, took place on the Low Speed Ring at the Nardò Circuit under typical real-world conditions. The ID.7 Pro S achieved an average speed of 29 km/h, which mirrors the speeds often encountered in urban rush hour traffic. The test was conducted with ambient temperatures ranging from 5 to 15°C, and the test car was entirely standard, with no technical modifications.
Volkswagen’s goal with the test was to demonstrate the maximum efficiency of the ID.7 Pro S, which is designed to achieve long ranges in everyday use, thanks to its state-of-the-art drive system and exceptional aerodynamics. The APP550 drive motor integrated into the rear axle generates 545 Nm of torque, enabling the car to maintain an efficient energy consumption range of 16.2 to 13.6 kWh/100 km in the official WLTP cycle, while still achieving a sporty 0-100 km/h time of 6.6 seconds.
Strong Demand in Europe:
The ID.7 Pro S, alongside its ID.7 Saloon and ID.7 Tourer variants, is seeing a positive trend in sales in Europe, especially among long-distance drivers and families. According to Martin Sander, Board Member for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales, “We are currently selling more ID.7 models than Passat, which shows the growing demand for this all-electric sedan. It’s a meaningful addition to our portfolio and well-suited for both personal and company car use.”
Volkswagen’s Long-Term Vision:
The ID.7 Pro S is a testament to Volkswagen’s ambition to provide highly efficient, long-range electric vehicles. The vehicle combines cutting-edge technology with impressive range capabilities, offering drivers the reliability of a premium electric vehicle that’s equally at home on long-distance journeys as it is in urban environments.
Volkswagen is committed to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, offering a future that is both sustainable and practical for everyday use.
