Speed Six Continuation: A Legendary Revival

Speed Six Continuation: A Legendary Revival

Following the success of the Bentley 4½ Litre Supercharged ‘Blower’ Continuation models, Bentley Motors is continuing its legacy with the Speed Six Continuation Series. As the most successful Bentley race car in history, the original Speed Six secured two victories at the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 1929 and 1930.

Each unit of the Speed Six Continuation Series is meticulously handcrafted from scratch, employing period-correct tools, fixings, and techniques. The construction process takes approximately ten months per car. Bentley’s Mulliner division used two historic Speed Six models as templates:

  • Speed Six GU409: A prized possession of Bentley Motors.
  • Old Number 3: A works Speed Six that competed in the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hour race, driven by Sammy Davis and Clive Dunfee.

Introduced in 1928, the original Speed Six was a high-performance version of the Bentley 6½ Litre. It featured twin SU carburetors, a high-performance camshaft, and a higher compression ratio. Only 182 Speed Six units were produced between 1928 and 1930, solidifying its legacy in Bentley’s motorsport history.
