With the 2024 DTM season set to begin on April 26-27 at Oschersleben, Schubert Motorsport is fine-tuning its BMW M4 GT3 EVOs for the challenge ahead. During the official DTM test day this week, the team, alongside BMW M factory drivers René Rast and Marco Wittmann, completed over 250 test laps, gathering valuable data for the upcoming season.
Gearing Up for the Season
The main focus of the tests was to familiarize the team and drivers with the updated BMW M4 GT3 EVO and the new Pirelli tires introduced for the season. Rast completed 129 laps in the #33 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, sporting a fresh RoboMarkets design, and set a best lap time of 1:23.394 minutes. Wittmann, behind the wheel of the #11 Schaeffler-liveried “Green Machine,” recorded 132 laps with a fastest time of 1:23.091 minutes.
As the reigning team champions, Schubert Motorsport is aiming to build on its success in what is considered a home race at Oschersleben’s Motorsport Arena.
Expanding Partnerships & Technical Advancements
BMW M Motorsport has also strengthened its collaboration with brake specialist Endless, a partner since 2020. The extended agreement will now cover the entire GT3 program, including the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. Endless’ expertise played a key role in refining the braking performance of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
BMW M Motorsport Head Andreas Roos emphasized the importance of this test, stating,
“The test day was crucial for Schubert Motorsport and the drivers to gain experience with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Our goal is clear: to fight for victories and titles in the biggest GT racing series worldwide.”
Drivers Share Their Excitement
Wittmann expressed confidence in the new EVO version, saying,
“Compared to its predecessor, the car offers a larger operating window, which will hopefully help us better adapt to the challenges of the DTM.”
Rast, making his first runs in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, added,
“Lap times weren’t our focus yet, but I’m excited to see what we can achieve when the season starts at Oschersleben.”
As the countdown to the DTM season opener continues, Schubert Motorsport looks well-prepared to take on the grid with its high-performance BMW M4 GT3 EVOs.
